SGO Guide ("we," "our," or "us") operates sgoguide.com and provides infrastructure and administration services for Scholarship Granting Organizations under Section 25F of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website or use our services.

Information you provide directly

  • Contact form submissions (name, email, organization, message)
  • Account registration and platform login credentials
  • Donor contribution records and tax credit documentation
  • Scholarship application data, including income verification materials
  • Organization details submitted during SGO onboarding

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs
  • Pages visited, time spent, and clickstream data via analytics tools
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 7)

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve our platform and services
  • Process donor contributions and generate tax credit receipts
  • Administer scholarship applications and eligibility determinations

  • Meet legal and regulatory reporting obligations under Section 25F
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve site functionality and content

  • Service providers — third-party vendors who assist us in operating our platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing) under confidentiality agreements
  • Scholarship Granting Organizations — the SGO entity you are associated with, as necessary to administer the program you participate in
  • Legal and regulatory authorities — when required by law, court order, or to comply with IRS and state reporting obligations under Section 25F
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to customary confidentiality protections

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, comply with applicable tax and regulatory recordkeeping requirements (typically seven years for financial and tax records), and resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain session state, remember preferences, and collect analytics data. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may limit certain functionality of the site. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

Scholarship applicant data for minors is collected and processed solely in the context of the applicable SGO program, on behalf of and under the oversight of the sponsoring organization.
